About Long County

Long County was designated in 1920 from the lands of Liberty County and honors Dr. Crawford W. Long, a Georgian surgeon who is known for introducing anesthesia for surgery. Ludowici, the county seat, is home to approximately 2,200 residents, providing a slower pace of life when compared to the business of the city. With abundant wildlife and preserved nature, Long County is a peaceful place to call home and enjoy activities such as fishing, birdwatching, and camping.
